I am April Ashworth, AGPCNP-BC, a board-certified Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner with over 30 years of diverse medical experience.

My career has been devoted to providing exceptional care with a compassionate touch, focusing on areas such as trauma, weight loss (including eating disorders), liver disease, primary care, and outpatient detoxification.

I am committed to enhancing the overall health and well-being of my patients, prioritizing personalized care and patient education.

My Journey:

Originally from Pennsylvania, my path in medicine began at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, where I earned my undergraduate degree. In 1993, a significant move brought me to Virginia where I joined the team at VCU Medical Center. During my 24 years at VCU, I developed a deep expertise in managing brain injuries, trauma, and burn care. My 14 years as a liver transplant coordinator were transformative, propelling me to advance my career and pursue a degree as a nurse practitioner.

This advancement allowed me to embrace a challenging role that integrated primary care with outpatient detoxification services. Later, my focus shifted to liver disease, where I continued to contribute significantly to the field of healthcare.
